Mages doesn't need a + in their wands. Since they barely hit monsters...

According to me, nice rods are :

- Quadruple Dexterous Rod[4] <- Put 4 Drops cards
- Quadruple Vital Rod[4] <- Put 4 Fabre cards
- Triple Dexterous Staff[3]
- Triple Vital Staff[3]
- Double Vital Arc Wand[2]

You can also have your Rod[4] carded with elemental enchancing cards since the 11.2 Veins Patch. The best one is Hill Wind card according to me. Hill Wind card increases the damage of Lightning Bolt, Jupitel Thunder, and Thunder Storm by 5% and putting for of those will give you a huge +20% w00t!

That staff is best when (the +10 piercing) you are fighting high m def enemies, otherwise it isn't alot better than a bone wand for damage...

If you only care about damage, you can use a staff of destruction i suppose, but the lack of a shield will probably create a problem. There is also a combo for wizardy staff (two-handed) and spiritual ring: +21% mAttack, +4 dex(i think), +6 int, and -refinementRate% cast time.

A lich bone wand (one handed) is +20%, but only +1 int, so it may do more damge in some situations...

As mentioned before, there are cards that increase the damage of jt, lov, ms, fp, sg, and fn which you can stick into rods.

Edit: The reduction in cast time for the wizardry staff is based on the upgrade of the headgear.

Many of the newer staves give you bonuses for overups. eg surv rods, staff of piercing.

With all the new staffs and rods out is the wizardry staff still a good one to use? When coupled with a decently high upgraded headgear?
I was looking to purchase it soon.

Depends on whether you are willing to start taking over 30% more damage or not.

TAKING over 30% more damage? No thanks! I guess you're saying that since it's a 2 handed rod?

Even instant cast isn't a guarantee you won't be getting hit. You still have cooldowns, monsters that spawn on you, etc, etc.

Lich's bone wand is pretty fun because of the area attack. But really a +10 staff of piercing or a Survivor's rod are good choices. Personally I would never go with a 2 handed anything on my wiz, but I know some people use them.

The wizardry staff/spiritual ring combo isn't bad, I'd probably use it at times on a regular wiz. Staff+ring together give 8 int and 5 dex altogether (and some cast time reduction from headgear), and total +21matk, if that would result in one SG less or something equally efficient, then sure.

If I had the means, I'd make a +10 guard with the int thanatos card so I could get 4int from it and use piercing staff with that. With a high priest (or some maps just a regular priest) one can stay alive fine without the reduction and often offense is the best defense.

Obviously if you find yourself taking a lot of hits and closely escaping death with the reduction guard on, you don't want to take it off.
